Wine Racks - Style And Function For Your Home
from: Jim HofmanWhether you have a large or small wine collection, you'll need one or more wine racks. Wine racks have gone beyond simple storage solutions in recent years - they're often an intergral part of home decor. Before you purchase your first or next wine rack, here are a few factors to consider.
The first issue to consider when considering wine racks is how many bottles you'd like to store. Wine racks come in all shapes and sizes, from table top models to huge multi hundred bottle models. Some wine collectors use multiple smaller wine racks to organize and segment their wine collections.
Your decorating preferences and personal style will also come into play. Do you want to wall mount your wine rack, or is a table top wine rack sufficient? Do you prefer your wine rack situated discreetly in a corner, or would you prefer a centerpiece stylish addition to your home? Wine rack options are plentiful, so consider form and functionality.
Another aspect of decor to consider is texture. Wine racks come in a variety of compositions, like steel, aged wood, brushed metal, brass, and more. Choose one that fits seamlessly into your style and home decor.
Our personal preference is a wine rack that offers display and storage of other wine related items in addition to the wine bottles themselves. In essence, we like a focal point "wine center" with all our wine and wine accessories in one place. Numerous stylish options are available, with ample storage and display options for wine books, wine accessories, wine glasses, and even wine art.
In general, wooden wine racks are the easiest to match with most home decors, but of course that choice is entirely up to you. We prefer a handsome, aged wood look to a wine rack, because it lends a vibe associated with drinking and enjoying wine.
You may even wish to consider owning multiple wine racks. This is a common option for those with large wine collections, or those who wish to use one wine rack as a decorative piece with another for simple storage. Still others use one larger wine rack, complemented by a small table top wine rack for easier accessibility.
No matter your choice of wine rack, don't be afraid to have fun and experiment. That's half the fun of wine drinking! Come to think of it, that's half the fun of home decor too!
